New: Powell-Peralta Kelvin Hoefler Bones FLIGHT Deck

New: Powell-Peralta Kelvin Hoefler Bones FLIGHT Deck

Powell-Peralta has recently released several new deck shapes designed by professional skateboarder Kelvin Hoefler featuring their innovative FLIGHT technology.

The FLIGHT decks, priced at $99, are designed to be thinner, stronger, and more durable than traditional skateboard decks. FLIGHT decks are as thin as a smartphone but over twice as strong in tail break tests.

While the decks use Powell-Peralta’s standard 7-ply birch wood construction, the innovative epoxy infusion process makes the decks more resistant to wear over time.

With these technical innovations and shape collaboration with one of street skating’s biggest names, Powell-Peralta proves once again that they remain leaders in the skateboard industry after many decades.

Two similar deck shapes have been released – the Kelvin Hoefler Phoenix and the newer Kelvin Hoefler Bones. Both are available in the “247” shape which is 31.45″ x 8″, well-suited for all types of terrain and tricks.

The Kelvin Hoefler Phoenix deck is also available in a slightly larger “248” shape that’s 31.95″ x 8.25″.

All of the new FLIGHT decks feature Powell-Peralta’s “K20” medium concave for enhanced pop and control. The decks are produced in China – a shift from Powell-Peralta’s roots producing decks domestically in Southern California.

Early feedback on the FLIGHT decks from professional riders has been extremely positive. The feedback from both pros and recreational skaters indicates the FLIGHT decks deliver on Powell-Peralta’s promises of added durability and pop retention over the life of the board.

Pro skater Jon Allie shared that the FLIGHT decks feel “super durable yet responsive” and noted how they hold their pop longer than traditional decks even after heavy use sessions.

Amateur riders also praise the FLIGHT series. One rider commented on how their FLIGHT deck is still in great condition even after 4 months of daily riding in all weather conditions. “The board continues to feel like the day I bought it.”

Only time will tell if this new production process truly changes the game, but early signs point to the Kelvin Hoefler FLIGHT decks setting a new standard.

Skaters of all levels continue to put the decks to the test on streets, parks, and contest venues. Videos emerging on YouTube and Instagram have shown FLIGHT decks withstand all types of impactful bail sequences and hardcore skating sessions without issue.

Some pros are even claiming the decks feel faster and last longer than top-selling competition models from other brands.

The Kelvin Hoefler FLIGHT decks are the first to use this technology. As the technology develops further, Powell-Peralta may be able to produce future FLIGHT models stateside as well.

With their innovative construction, iconic graphics, and input from one of street skating’s biggest ambassadors, the Kelvin Hoefler FLIGHT decks look primed to dominate the market.
