Who is the Byron Bay for?

Whether you’re cruising down the coast or navigating the city streets, the Globe Byron Bay Sun Days longboard is your ideal companion.

The Byron Bay is quite similar to a classic pintail in the sense that its narrow and tapered shape gives it a super smooth, comfortable, and maneuverable feel – a bliss to cruise and carve on around boardwalks and bike paths.

However, this board’s attractive kicktail also makes it a good candidate for urban commuting, sidewalk carving, and even some hill descent thanks to its long stable wheelbase and subtle concave that keeps your feet in place.

Overall a very versatile full-size topmount cruiser for comfortable and responsive surf-style riding and carving.

Shape

Globe Byron Bay Sun Days 43"

The Globe Byron Bay 43″ is a low-aspect ratio, topmount cruiser shape. It has the appearance of a pintail but with a true kick tail (sometimes called a kicktail longboard).

The deck features a pointed nose and squash tail with a nice functional 7″ kicktail for maneuverability and curb hopping.

The outline is wider near the nose, allowing front foot leverage, with a significant taper running toward the back.

The Byron Bay Sun Days has a mellow .375″ concave that gives your feet natural curves to lock into – well-suited for pushing and moderately fast riding.

The wheel cutouts (aka wells) provide the extra space needed to prevent wheelbite.

The clear broadcast grip on the top of the deck helps you secure your feet on the deck without hiding the attractive natural wood.

Construction

The Byron Bay Sun Days is built from Resin-8 hard rock maple (solid 8 plies).

Epoxy resin is used for pressing the deck, which makes it lighter, stronger, and more durable than traditional water-based decks.

Trucks

Globe’s 150mm Slant RKP trucks are designed for decks longer than 34″. The default 50° baseplate is meant to provide maximum stability at high speed.

For a tighter turning radius and snappier turns, though, you have the option to flip the hanger, resulting in a 54° baseplate angle as the trucks are angled outward towards the nose and tail of the board.

It’s worth noting that all Slant trucks are guaranteed for life, a cue to their build quality and durability.

Wheels

The 70mm 78a Conical Cruiser wheels are poured from Globe’s high-rebound urethane formula. The result is wheels that are abrasion-resistant, smoother, and faster rolling than average.

The wheels provide excellent solid grip, which means safer rides and less sliding around. They also a nice cushioned ride, letting you comfortably cruise over bumps.

The Globe Abec-7 bearings are known to spin faster with less effort needed for a quicker ride.

Artwork

The Globe x Dead Kooks collaboration – which the Byron Bay Sun Days is part of – combines Globe Longboards’ solid craftsmanship with the unique styles of Dead Kooks, a popular surfboard company.

This results in longboards that look good and work well, inspired by surfing culture. The Byron Bay Sun Days graphics features ocean-like turquoise patterns that remind you of seawater on a sunny day.
