The Lib Tech Lost Glydra surfboard is Lib Tech Mayhem’s midsize glide monster. It’s a super-charged version of its cousin, the HYDRA.
Priced at $950, it’s built for surfers who know their stuff and want a board that can do amazing things on smaller waves.

The Glydra is like a bigger, stretch-out version of the Hydra. Think of the Hydra as the starting point.
It’s a small board designed for catching small waves and having a blast in less-than-perfect surf conditions. It’s known for its innovative shape that makes it super fun and easy to ride.
Now, take all those cool features of the Hydra and imagine making the board longer, or “stretching it out.” That’s the Glydra.
It’s designed for surfers who love the Hydra but want something a bit bigger for a different feel in the water.

The Glydra keeps a lot of the magic from the Hydra, including its unique shape that helps you carve through the water and speed up easily.
But because it’s longer, the Glydra is even better at paddling and catching waves. It’s designed to glide over water smoothly, making every surf session fun, no matter the wave size.
Both boards share similar designs, like the special bottom shape (concave) that lifts you up and helps you go fast, and the edged rails that let you turn smoothly.
The Glydra adds a bit more curve (rocker) to fit nicely into smaller waves, despite being a bigger board.
The Glydra has a special shape that makes it cut into waves better, speed up, and turn on a dime. This shape, called the sidecut outline, comes from snowboard designs.
The side-cut locks in during carves and shortens the radius of turns, while both gaining speed and maintaining control.

Even though it’s a bit less extreme than the HYDRA’s, it’s still the secret sauce that makes the Glydra awesome at carving and speeding through turns.
Underneath the board, the design has two layers of curves (double concave) inside a single big curve (single concave). This isn’t just for looks, it makes the board lift and speed through water like a speedboat.
The triple concave allows the use of more overall rocker, which encourages proper turning and more vertical surfing. The concave cuts through this rocker, adding lift and speed.
The heavily chined rails add release and frees up the board to roll from rail to rail. The chines make 3D rail surfing more possible on a concave bottom, high volume board – much more than simply skating fast on the surface.
The overall rocker is increased enough as the boards grow in length. Especially under the feet, through the mid-section of the board, allowing the longer rail line to fit in the curve of smaller waves and keep the board feeling free.
When riding longer boards, the main thing most surfers experience is the board feels “stiff”, or sticky. This design helps solve this issue.
The Dual Diamond tail combines traits from swallow and diamond tails, a key part of the design. This shape reduces the center part’s length and area behind the back foot, allowing for sharper and more controlled turns.
The tail is narrower in the last 18 inches with added curve, which means less of the side is touching the wave at once. This lets the rider turn and control the board easily, even without putting weight on the back foot.
The tail is thin and boxy with an upward bend at the fins, enhancing GLYDRA’s ability to trim and turn.

Glydra vs Hydra
On longer boards, the Glydra has a thicker center and a greater deck roll with thinner rails than HYDRA, allowing for tighter turns.
The tapered rails help the board cut through water more easily, keeping it sensitive.
In short, the Glydra is a dream for surfers who love riding small waves but still want to do all the cool turns and maneuvers. It’s easy to paddle, catches waves like a champ, and lets you have a blast from start to finish.
“The Glydra is an extremely fun and easy to ride, stretched out small wave machine. Call it a Long fish. Call it a mini-glider. Call it mid-length Mayhem or call it whatever you want. If you want to have fun, it gets the job done.” (Matt Biolos)
