The Lib Tech Pickup Stick 7’0″ is a versatile wave-catching machine designed to fill that crucial gap between shortboard and longboard.
The Pickup Stick has a lot to offer for seasoned surfers looking to add a reliable mid-length to their quiver, or intermediate riders eager to progress.
At 7’0, this board is the smallest of the Pickup Stick series – its big brothers are the 7’6 and the 8′. It’s designed for those sessions when the surf conditions are uncertain, or when you’re prepping for a surf trip and need something that handles a variety of waves.

Board Outline
The smooth lines and narrower round pin tail make the Pickup Stick suitable for any type of wave, from cruising in small mush to catching steeper sets.

The shape is spot on for surfers who need that balance between the quick maneuverability of a shortboard and the paddling power of a longboard.
It has enough volume to catch waves easily and generate speed, but it’s still responsive enough to make tight turns and maintain control in all conditions.
If you’re looking for a board that can do it all, this one’s worth considering.
Construction
Lib Tech’s ecoIMPACTO construction is built with a tough, environmentally friendly approach that makes it highly durable, great if you travel a lot and want a board that can take a beating.
The board is made from carbon fiber and fiberglass, combining lightweight performance with resilience. This construction is much more robust than standard PU or Epoxy boards, highly resistant to dings and bumps.
One of the standout features is the “Dang Difficult to Ding” durability. You can stuff it in a travel bag and toss it in the back of your truck, you won’t have to worry about the usual wear and tear.
Board ends up on the rocks after leash snapped? No problem. You can even jump on it while it’s laying on the sand or on hard ground. It’s really the ultimate travel board.

Another awesome thing is the board won’t absorb water even if you do manage to ding it. This means it will stay in top condition for much longer.
Lib Tech also takes the environment seriously. The construction process eliminates hazardous waste and doesn’t require paint brushes, tape, or solvents. They recycle foam offcuts, so you’re riding a board that’s kinder to the planet.
Fin Setup & Shape
The Pickup Stick 7’0″ comes with a 9” single fin box and two FOCII FCSII compatible side fin boxes, giving you the flexibility to set it up just the way you like.
The board’s 5-fin layout allows for various configurations, whether you prefer a thruster, quad, or single fin setup. So you can adjust your setup based on the conditions and how you want the board to feel.
The pintail design helps with smoother turns and maintaining speed, especially in bigger waves. The bottom shape features a concave to V design, which enhances lift and maneuverability. It also makes it easier to generate speed down the line and carve up the face of the wave.
Moderate rails add to the board’s balance. The result is a stable board, that still responds well when you want to lay into a turn.
Rider feedback

Here are highlights of what surfers have to say about the Pickup Stick 7′:
- Incredibly responsive, even for newbies.
- People surf this board for years, it holds up and continues to perform as their skills improve.
- Great board for progressing from beginner to intermediate levels.
- Board’s durability is a recurring theme. Built to last, survives airline baggage handlers and rough surf conditions. Often no dings or dents even after months.
- Ability to handle a wide range of conditions, from small summer waves to larger, more challenging surf. Stability, speed, and ease of paddling. Go-to board for various situations.
- Board might struggle in bigger surf, especially on drops. The flat nose profile can bury under water if not managed properly, which might be a concern for surfers with a more top-heavy build. A different model might be better suited for better stability in heavy surf.
