Madrid Skateboards has released a new Artist Series collaboration with illustrator Falu Carolei. Falu is an independent artist based in Buenos Aires, recognized for his work related to surf and skateboard culture.
Working from his studio, he makes pieces for graphics around the world, as well as for skateboards, album covers and festival posters. He also paints many large-scale murals utilizing different techniques.
The new collection comprises two awesome skateboard models (complete or deck only): the Willy and the Wizard. Both are priced at $75 for the deck only and $175 for the complete. Here are the details.

1. Madrid x Falu Willy 28″ skateboard
The Willy is a killer new mini cruiser shape developed specifically for this release. At 28″ long by 8.125″ wide with a 14.5″ wheelbase, it has a full shortboard surfboard outline with a rounded nose and tail, a wider mid section, and a nice little kicktail for quick turning and nimble maneuvering around the city.
The mini size and short wheelbase make it super portable and easy to navigate sidewalks and back alleys, carry around at the beach, into a store, or on a bus or train for daily commuting to work or school.
The Willy deck looks stunning with the fantastic artwork on the bottom and the attractive grip work on the top side.
Falu’s character Willy is a super cool, comics-style surf rat with long blonde hair, a moustache, and a stylish surf look. He’s crouching on his skateboard holding his surfboard under his arm. He impersonates that feeling of freedom we all feel when skateboarding or surfing.
The Willy is available in natural wood or in one of 3 beautiful stains: blue, red, or yellow.
The complete ships with ultra smooth 58mm 78a Cadillac Juniors soft wheels, Cadillac Trucks, and Flypaper Grip.
2. Madrid x Falu Wizard 29.25″
The Wizard is a 29.25″ x 9.5″ classic retro shape, noticeably bigger and wider than the Willy, with a longer 15″ wheelbase great for comfy cruising and surf-style riding.
The wide aspect shape is widest near the nose with a slight taper moving toward the rear. It features a short but super wide squash tail suitable for bowl and park riding.
This model is a tribute to Jerry Madrid, founder of Madrid Skateboards, considered a true Wizard of Woodworking. He developed some of the very first concave molds ever.
The artwork on this model is once again awesome, featuring a wizard comics character with his hands on a skateboard doing his woodwork magic (albeit without the need for tools).
The top side of the deck is covered with coarse grey grip tape that lets the Madrid logo (as well as a large bug in the deck color) showing through the grip.
The complete comes with Retro Fly wheels 60mm 90a – the classic Madrid Fly wheel going strong since the early ’80s, Cadillac Trucks, Flypaper Grip, and Retro Style Copers for additional ’80s flair:
