Malibu’s 2024 Wakesetter 23 MXZ: Wake, Wave, & Comfort

Malibu Boats is releasing the next version of its Wakesetter 23 MXZ pickle fork bow. It is the successor to the popular 2020 release.

The MXZ wake boat stands out for its ability to create one of the best wakesurfing, wakeboarding, and foiling experience for riders of all levels. It’s also appreciated for the ample room it offers for its size (“MXZ” stands for “Maximize”), including lots of extra forward space in the huge bow.

Interior Features

The 2024 23 MXZ offers spacious wraparound seating with high-end backrests and nicely raised seat cushions, along with pop-up rear-facing seats for people riding behind the boat. Laid-back stern seats offer a nice lounge spot while swimming.

Standard seating can also be upgraded to a more versatile seating system that can turn into a picnic table seat, a sun bed, etc.

Besides the high-end upholstery, standard fixtures include Wet Sounds audio, phone, cup holders, and wireless charging slots everywhere. the ample hinged storage includes a spacious aluminum glove box and observer seat storage.

The lounge floor, swim platform, and bow entry are covered with slip-proof soft grip foam – as well as the stern walkway from the cockpit to the swim platform.

The stern is equipped with flip-down swim steps.

Tower, Racks, Tech

The G5 Tower with gas-assisted shocks is easy to fold down and deploy and holds up to 4 speakers and 4 board racks. The tower can be upgraded to include tower lighting, misters, and automated height adjustment with a button.

The optional PTM ClampForce board rack upgrade allows easy inboard folding thanks to a swivel and clamp.

The 23 MXZ comes with Malibu’s command center at the helm, including a 12″ touch screen for driving, engine, and wake/wave control, as well as an additional screen with extra features.

Surf & Wake

The customized ballast and the Power Wedge hydrofoil system help generate a clean, well-shaped wake. Using the wedge, the shape of the wave can be customized by the driver using a button at the command center.

The 23 MXZ has presets for quickly setting up a wakeboard wake or surf wave based on the rider level. The presets can be customized using a dial and touch buttons near the throttle hand. The ballast pumps offer new fast-fill and fast-drain functionality.

The Surf Gate system lets you create a surf wave on either side without having to list the boat.

Using the Surf Band feature, riders can themselves control the wave shape, the boat speed, the surf side (if using Surf Gate), and the speaker volume.
