We have a whole separate FAQ on ridingboards.com Trips here.

There’s a page about this here.

All of the videos on ridingboards.com are from YouTube. You can find them on there too, of course, but ridingboards.com gives you a really easy way to browse around surf, skate and snowboard videos of particular locations. We hope this gives you a way to check out places you’ve been, places where your friends might be, and especially places that you might want to visit.
Ridingboards.com also gives you a great way to showcase videos from YouTube, with our Trips feature. Using ridingboards.com Trips, you can share your favorite places to ride, your wish lists of places to ride, or just some great videos. Click here to have a look at some trips or here to read about them.
Ridingboards.com also allows you to upload to your YouTube account through this website. (See the Coming Soon page for details of upload features to come).
YouTube are really good at storing videos, and they’re also forward thinking enough to provide ways for sites like us to integrate with them. This is good for them (gets them more exposure to people in specific niches), good for us (Gives us lots of great videos), and most importantly, good for you because it combines all the great stuff on YouTube with your favorite boardsports, the places to go to enjoy them, and the Trips features on ridingboards.com.

Yes. Well, as good as. You can use our upload feature to upload videos to your YouTube account through the ridingboards.com website, and videos uploaded here will be highlighted when they appear in the listings here on the site. We’re planning to make this feature much more flexible in the future (see the Coming Soon page for details).

When you upload a video here on ridingboards.com, it will take a short while for YouTube to process it and make it viewable. It then takes a little while longer to show up in the searches that we do for the different video sections.
When you’re uploading your videos, make sure that you give them the appropriate titles descriptions and tags. For example: if you’re uploading a video of Surfing at Padang Padang in Bali, make sure that those words are all in the title, description or tags somewhere. This will make sure that your video is found in the searches for the section it belongs to.

When you upload videos to YouTube through the ridingboards.com website, you actually upload them to your own YouTube account, so you need to log in to YouTube and give ridingboards.com permission to add your uploaded video to your YouTube account.
Ridingboards.com never has access to your YouTube password (that’s why you go to the YouTube site to log in) - we’re just given permission to access your account on your behalf.
If you’re logged into the ridingboards.com website when you do this, you won’t be asked again. If not, the permission only lasts for a single upload.
< back
If you’re not logged into the ridingboards.com website when you give us permission, you don’t need to do anything, as the permission only lasts for that one upload.
If you are logged in when you give us permission, then you give us permission to access your YouTube account on your behalf until you cancel that permission.
You can cancel our permission to access your YouTube account by going to your home page (“My Home” on the top navigation menu) and then clicking “Revoke access” where it says “My YouTube Account” under "My Account" on the left.
You can also do this from your Google account (YouTube is a Google service).

The photos on the site are all from Picasa Web Albums, which is another Google service for storing and managing your photos. At the moment ridingboards.com simply searches for publicly viewable photos in the Picasa Web Albums archives, which are related to the section you’re looking at (Surfing Bali, for example).
< back
We’re planning an “Upload and Manage Your Photos” feature, to allow you to upload to your Picasa Web Albums account from the ridingboards.com website (much like we already do with videos and YouTube). See the Coming Soon page for more details.

Yes, we know there aren't many places on ridingboards.com yet but it's still very new and we launched the site with just a handful of places for each boardsport. Because we have to research the info for each place that we add, it can be quite time consuming.
If you can help us out with info for new places please get in touch - we need all the help we can get! Also, please let us know if there are any new places that you'd like us to make a priority and we'll add them to our list. Email suggestions to

We’re doing our very best to try to keep the videos and photos as relevant as possible to each snow resort, surf spot/area, and skate spot on the site. Unfortunately, there will be the odd one that isn’t. It mostly comes down to the title, description and related tags for each video - so if you're uploading, please make sure that these describe your video well.

Doodles are the little doodles on the right hand side of the ridingboards.com homepage. There’s nothing big or clever about them - they’re just doodles.
If you’d like to see a doodle of your own on the ridingboards.com homepage, email one to us. There are some rules though:
It must be hand drawn on paper, which you have scanned, or somehow digitized. It could also be drawn on card or whatever - it just has to be non-digital to begin with, so images made with any kind of drawing tablets are out (even though they’re technically hand drawn).
The digital version that you send to us must be at least 165 pixels wide, to ensure that it looks ok when it’s on the ridingboards.com website. (Don’t worry about it if you’re not sure how big it is, it’s probably fine).
